CALCUTTA (CLC) – Stiffest bristles, approximately 3/4 inches in length. Works well for fine to medium hair types. About Static: Boar bristles are similar in structure to human hair, so they are not anti-static. To reduce static, spritz the brush with water, or apply a bit of leave-in conditioner to the hair.

Wood Handles Finished to Perfection

The brush handles are made from locally grown pear wood. The raw, naturally dark wood is finished to a smooth perfection, then hand finished to preserve and protect.

High Quality Wild Boar Bristles

Only the best boar bristles in the world are used for Desert Breeze Distributing’s hair brushes. The boars are raised for meat, but the bristles are saved for use in our high quality brushes. Supply is limited for these unique bristles, because only adult boars can produce a bristle that is stiff enough for our brushes.

First Cut

The first cut of the boar bristle is the most firm, and is the only cut we use. The root (follicle) of the bristle is gentle on the scalp and is a sign of a high quality brush.

Not All Boar Bristles are the Same

Boar bristles vary between species, age of the animal, and the climates they are raised in. In the rugged climates where we source our boar bristles, the boars grow especially thick bristles.

To show you how amazing boar bristles are, we sent our brushes to a lab with a special microscope, capable of photographing the fascinating details that are impossible to see with the naked eye.These microscopic photos show a human hair and a wild boar bristle from one of our brushes. The scales of a boar bristle closely resemble those of a human hair. The boar bristle absorbs the natural oils produced by the scalp, and distributes it down the hair shaft. Synthetic bristles cannot provide the same benefits of a quality boar bristle brush.The close up photo of our brush show the first cut of the boar bristle. The light color you can see is the root (follicle) of the bristle. No glue is used! The bristle is cut, then folded in half and stapled deep into the wood handle of the brush. This creates a strong, durable brush made to last.

Natural boar bristles are softer and more gentle than synthetic or nylon bristles. The boar bristles are approximately 5/8″ long. Crafted in Germany at a family owned shop that’s been making high quality hairbrushes for over 100 years.
Recommended for fine or thinning hair. Bristles are precision cut for staggered lengths, which allows the brush to grip hair down to the scalp. Precision spacing between the bristles allow brush to penetrate through fine hair types. Thicker hair types may need to brush hair in sections.
The handle of this beautifully crafted brush is made of dark pear wood, grown locally in Germany. When the brush arrives from Germany to our facility in southern Idaho, we engrave the brushes and package them with care. The engraved image of the butterfly is a symbol of the gentle and transforming powers of nature.
Pure boar bristles naturally condition hair, promote growth of healthy hair, improve hair texture, add natural shine, and reduce the need for styling products. PLEASE NOTE: If static control is needed, smooth hair with palm of hand after each brush stroke, or spritz or apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner into hair before boar bristle brushing. Pure boar bristles are similar in structure to human hair, so like human hair, boar bristles are not anti-static.
